Explain to us in detail how you came to sign with a French label M & O MUSIC and why ?

We went up to the studio to record a single, ‘Death Note’ and sent the song out to get reviewed. M & O was one of the many places to review it and reached out to us personally. They asked us if we had plans to release an album or ep, at the time we had not planned on it. Ironically enough we were in the market for a new label. We sent Alex (M & O) over some demos of things we were working on and he offered us a deal to release an album for us. We had worked with M & O before on the Soulfly tour. Once we got our offer we reached out to Gloria Cavalera to she what she thought of M & O since they work together on various shows and tours. Gloria had nothing but great things to say about M & O. We signed our deal with them and ‘Beyond The Veil’ was born.

Can you introduce us to the group ? Concerning current musicians, do you have other personal and professional activities other than music and which ones ?

Twisty Suicide – Vocals, Jonny Suicide – Bass guitar and backing vocals, Steven Suicide – Lead guitar, Veritas Suicide – Drums, and our two newest members Z Suicide – Guitar and Invictus Suicide – Guitar. We all have our various activites that we do outside of music. Twisty is an avid bow hunter, Jonny is a toy collector, Steven loves to cook, Veritas is into karate. Z and Invictus just love to play guitar.

In 2021 during the American tour of SOULFLY you opened for 13 dates, several questions come to mind : How did you land this opportunity ? How did the public welcome you because musically your style is different from that of SOULFLY ?

Our manager Ryan Raes over at Distilled Entertainment was presented an offer for one of his bands to go on tour with Soulfly. We put in for it and Soulfly chose us to go on tour with them. The Soufly tribe was very receptive to us as a band. We are two completely different styles of metal but their fans enjoyed us as well.

Tell us about the members of SOULFLY, how did they behave with you ? Did you keep in touch with them ?

Everyone in the Soulfly camp were great ! They treated us like family and that meant a lot to us. We still keep in touch to this day even Dino (Fear Factory), he was playing guitar for Soulfly on this tour.

If I'm not being stupid, is the field of horror and serial killers a source of inspiration for you in terms of writing ? Why did you choose these themes ?

Absolutely we use horror and serial killers for inspiration. We went this route because we are fascinated by the psyche of the serial killer and how messed up they are, plus we love the macabre. Everything we do is based around horror.

I also suppose that you have probably seen films and series or even read books, some of which must have left an impression on you, which ones and why ?

I dont think there is any one movie, or book that really left an impression on us. Just mainly how dark and twisted people can be is some what fascinating and scary at the same time.

Very simple question, tell us about your makeup, why ? Since when ? And what is the point ?

The makeup started many years ago to stand out from other bands in our genre but not just that it embodies our entire ethos as a band. Horror.

« Death Note » is the first video clip taken from your EP « Beyond The Veil » why did you choose this title ? Tell us in detail how the filming of the clip took place ?

When we were writing the song, we wanted to tell a story about a serial killer but with a twist. That twist is a member of the band is the serial killer and kills someone in the audience each night while on tour. The line “Last thing you sang was your own fucking death note” pretty much brings that home. The video was shot but C.ENT Productions and they nailed it! We gave them the idea we and we let them run with it. We had a show lined up at Lovecrafts in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania (USA) and invited C.ENT Productions down to film it at that location on show day. We informed the venue about the shoot and that fake blood and murders would take place on site and Lovecratfs was all for it!

Since the group existed, can you tell us any positive or negative anecdotes and / or situations that have had an impact on you ?

None that have really impacted us but there was this one time we were doing a halloween show and a church group came out to protest. That was fun.

This year, France will be in the spotlight because it is organizing the Olympic Games. First of all, are you interested? When do you think and how do you see this? Do you plan to attend?

Congratulations on France getting to host the Summer Olympics this year, that’s really awesome. We will most definitely be watching the Olympics, sadly we won’t be in Paris to watch is but we can see it here in the US on tv.

Last question, do you have anything to add, to clarify or a message to convey ?

Live everyday like there is no tomorrow.
